You pay once to unlock the core software. An optional subscription gives you access to new features, roadmap voting, and early builds. If you cancel, everything you’ve already set up keeps working — no feature shutdowns, no lock-in. In the future, some large add-ons might be licensed separately if they take significant resources to develop. If we go that route, it’ll be clearly communicated on the roadmap and we'll ask you the subscribers what you think before we launch. We currently have no planned premium add-ons in the roadmap, but we want to be upfront about our pricing model and potential future.

Most NAS boxes are file servers that later bolt on Docker or VM plug-ins. ZRS is a home-server first, built to run containers, VMs, and services natively from day one.

It runs on most modern hardware, but we’re focused on home servers — not low-power boards like Raspberry Pi. If your machine can run VMs or containers reasonably well, you're good. Performance depends more on your CPU, RAM, and storage than anything else.

Yeah — containers, VMs, shares, logs, and more. But we also expose a full API and you have access to the open source CLIs if you’d like to automate things or plug it into your own tools.

Both. If you want to click a button and deploy Plex, you can. If you want to script everything or write your own frontend on top of our API, go for it. It’s meant to scale with you.

Yes. No telemetry, no forced internet connection, and no weird cloud stuff. You can run it fully offline.
